Preheat oven to 190°C. Brush four 250ml (1 cup) ovenproof dishes with the melted butter to lightly grease.
Place pears, plums, caster sugar, orange rind and juice in a medium saucepan. Cook, uncovered, over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes or until pears are tender. Spoon into greased dishes.
Sift the flour and cinnamon into a medium bowl. Use your fingertips to rub in the butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the brown sugar and coconut. Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the fruit. Cook in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden. Serve with the custard.
