Make veges fun!

Make veges fun!

Making vegetables fun to eat can sway even the fussiest of children to eat up.

Mr tomato head

Slice the top off a tomato. Scoop out seeds, then fill tomato to the brim with mashed corn, tinned peas, or the tomato seeds mixed with avocado. Place the cut slice on top and ‘paint’ a face using pesto or your favourite dip.

Cucumber crocodile

Slice a wedge out of both cucumber ends (for the mouth and tail), then cut wedges in half to make legs. Attach them to the ‘body’ with toothpicks. Use two canned peas, corn, or pieces of yellow capsicum for the eyes (use a smear of peanut butter for ‘glue’). Fill the mouth with cottage cheese (for teeth) or a small hard-boiled egg (crocs love eggs!)

Give ‘em stick!

Veges always taste better when barbecued on a stick! Give onions, capsicums, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, courgettes, small eggplant cubes, carrots, green beans and broccoli a stab!

Sweet? Sweet!

You will be surprised just how sweet veges can be! Try cooked cauliflower or Brussels sprouts dipped in honey or peanut butter with low-sugar jam.

Cheesy spinach

Make a spinach mash with half-and-half low-fat cheese. Add garlic for some serious flavour and bake/microwave untilcheese melts.
